Grand Prix Thailand

  1. The Grand Prix competition is open to non-professional choirs.
  2. Competition categories participation: Choirs may take part in one or more competition categories.
  3. Age limit: Some competition categories are defined by age limit (children and youth choirs). If so, the majority of singers must not reach given age limit. Organizers allow exceptions for 10% of singers. This year, participants may exceed maximum 2 years of age and report in advance.
  4. Number of singers: Some competition categories state the maximum and minimum number of performing singers. These limits are de ned in the categories description.
  5. Age limit and number of singers: Organizers may require a list of singers with marked birth dates.
  6. Instrumental accompaniment: One composition must be performed a capella in all categories. Permitted are percussion instruments of all types.
  7. Competition compositions: The choir must send (email or post) one copy of compositions (containing name of composition, name of composer, time duration) before the application deadline. Changes in programme must be notified before 20th of June 2017.
  8. Competition compositions: If the choir participates in more than one competition category, they must prepare a different repertoire for each category. Each composition can be performed only once except for the Absolute winner competition.
  9. Competition compositions: Changes of tonality or other adjustments must be marked in notation.
  10. Competition compositions: Copies of composition notations are not returned, they will remain in the festival archive.
  11. Time limit: Clear time limit of 10 minutes is given for children choirs and 15 minutes for youth and adult choirs. Clear time does not include time taken by transfers on/off -stage, time between pieces or applause. Total performance duration is 15 minutes for children choirs and 20 minutes for youth and adult choirs. If time exceeds the limit, the jury will terminate the performance.
  12. Sound amplification, sound engineering, and piano accompaniment: Singing in all categories will be performed without microphones or other devices. An acoustic or electric piano will be available for tone indicating or accompaniment.
  13. Acoustic rehearsal at competition venue: Maximum time limit for acoustic rehearsals at competition venue is 10 minutes (including transfers on/off – stage). If time limit is exceeds, the re- hearsal will be terminated by organizers. Rehearsal time is stated by organizers. Given rehearsal time is xed and must be respected. If date or time of rehearsal is disrespected or violated, no other re- hearsal time may be given. Due to limited capacity, acoustic rehearsals will take place one day before relevant performance in time range 7:00 am – 23:00 pm.
  14. Competition venue: Each choir has to register at the authorized stage manager. The stage manager will assign each choir their vocal rooms (see conditions of participation) and dressing rooms. Time limit for vocal room occupation is 10 minutes. Minimum time for dressing room occupation is 15 minutes, maximum time will be limited by current capacity. All participants are obliged to respect time schedules, competition venue and instructions.
  1. Competition jury: Performances will be evaluated by a professional jury headed by the chairman of the jury.The decision of the jury is final.
  2. Assessment criteria: Each judge has a maximum of 100 points for disposal, distributed according to assessment criteria. The choir will be awarded by points based on the average of the scores.
  3. Assessment criteria: The jury distributes points based on following criteria:
    • Intonation 25 points
    • Fidelity to score 25 points
    • Tone quality 25 points
    • Overall artistic impression 25 points
  4. Final evaluation: Based on nal score, choirs will be rewarded with medals:
    • Gold medal 90 – 100 points
    • Silver medal 75 – 89,99 points
    • Bronze medal 60 – 74,99 points
    • Honourable appreciation 59,99 and less points
  5. Evaluation sheets: Individual evaluation sheets of jurors will be available after the festival.
