Regulations and categories

Every choir may compete in two categories. Singers must be at least 7 and at most 15 years of age to compete.

 

Category A – Classical Choral Music

Category A1

  • Program length from 6 to 8 minutes
  • 3-5 compositions
  • The program shall consist of compositions of different characters and styles
  • The compositions / arrangements can be sung in one or two parts
  • One composition shall be sung a cappella, the others may be also a cappella or accompanied by piano
  • The minimal number of singers is 8

Category A2

  • Program length from 8 to 10 minutes
  • 3-4 compositions
  • The program shall consist of compositions of different characters and styles
  • The compositions / arrangements can be sung in at least three parts
  • The compositions shall be sung a cappella, one may be accompanied by piano
  • The minimal number of singers is 8

 

Category B – Folkloristic Choral Music

Category B1

  • Program length from 6 to 8 minutes
  • 3-5 compositions / arrangements
  • The program shall consist of compositions / arrangements based on musical idioms from any traditional folkloristic music
  • The compositions / arrangements can be sung in one or two parts
  • The compositions / arrangements shall be sung a cappella or accompanied by original unamplified acoustic instrument
  • The compositions / arrangements shall be performed in the original language
  • The minimal number of singers is 4

 

Category B2

  • Program length from 8 to 10 minutes
  • 3-4 compositions / arrangements
  • The program shall consist of compositions / arrangements based on musical idioms from any traditional folkloristic music
  • The compositions / arrangements can be sung in at least three parts
  • The compositions / arrangements shall be sung a cappella or accompanied by original unamplified acoustic instrument
  • The compositions / arrangements shall be performed in the original language
  • The minimal number of singers is 4

 

Category C – Popular Choral Music

Category C1

  • Program length from 6 to 8 minutes
  • 3-5 compositions / arrangements
  • The program shall consist of secular or sacred compositions / arrangements based on an idiom of popular music
  • The compositions / arrangements must be sung in one or two parts
  • The pieces can be sung a cappella or accompanied by acoustic or electric instrument
  • The minimal number of singers is 8

Category C2

  • Program length from 8 to 10 minutes
  • 3-4 compositions / arrangements
  • The program shall consist of secular or sacred compositions / arrangements based on an idiom of popular music
  • The compositions / arrangements must be sung in at least three parts
  • The pieces can be sung a cappella or accompanied by acoustic or electric instrument
  • The minimal number of singers is 8

 

Category D – Mixed Choral Music

Category D1

  • Program length from 6 to 8 minutes
  • 3-5 compositions / arrangements
  • The program shall consist of secular or sacred compositions / arrangements mixed from two or three categories
  • The compositions / arrangements must be sung in one or two parts
  • The programme can be sung a cappella or may be accompanied by piano or acoustic instrument without electronical amplification
  • The minimal number of singers is 8

 

Category D2

  • Program length from 8 to 10 minutes
  • 3-4 compositions / arrangements
  • The program shall consist of secular or sacred compositions / arrangements mixed from two or three categories
  • The compositions / arrangements must be sung in at least three parts
  • The programme can be sung a cappella or may be accompanied by piano or acoustic instrument without electronical amplification
  • One piece shall be sung a cappella
  • The minimal number of singers is 8
